Broad Chain Stitch

Broad Chain Stitch is also known as Reverse Chain Stitch. This Stitch is very similar to heavy chain stitch except that the thread is passed behind one stitch instead of two. Use a firm thread.

Step 1. Come up at A and go down at B to make a small straight stitch, then come up at C as shown.

Step 2. Slide needle through straight stitch from right to left without picking up background fabric.

Step 3. Go down at D, next to C, to complete chain. Come up at E as shown. Pull thread through.

Step 4. Slide needle from right to left through chain you have just made. Do not pick up background fabric.

Step 5. Repeat Step 3, sliding needle through previous chain stitch to complete the column of stitches.
